Kidney Cells Can “Walk” to Repair Damage

A newly discovered phenomenon called collective cell migration shows that kidney cells actually crawl across tiny tubules to repair microscopic injuries.

Unlike many organs that rely on stem cells or scar formation, parts of the kidney use teams of cells that physically move together—almost like a microscopic rescue squad—to patch weak spots.

This explains why kidneys can sometimes recover from early disease or toxins if damage is caught early.
