Keeping the immune system healthy is imperative to long life. Foods that a person eats can effect the immune system in many ways. This could be negatively impacting the immune system without ones knowledge of it.

High-fructose corn syrup and other processed sugars has been linked to damaging the immune system over time. A new study suggested that high amounts of high-fructose corn syrup can cause inflammation in immune system cells.

Dendritic cells, which are found in the immune system, are critical to the body’s reaction to foreign substances. When they were exposed to high-fructose corn syrup the response was much greater than it was when it was exposed to glucose. Researchers do not know why the responses by the cells are much higher to high-fructose corn syrup but they advise caution with consuming high amounts of high-fructose corn syrup and other processed sugars.
