Auto-brewery syndrome, also known as gut fermentation syndrome, is a rare condition where the gastrointestinal tract produces an excess amount of yeast that ferments carbohydrates into alcohol. This leads to high blood alcohol levels even without consuming alcoholic beverages. Symptoms of auto-brewery syndrome can include dizziness, disorientation, fatigue, and in some cases, individuals may even be charged with driving under the influence (DUI) without having consumed alcohol.
