Some People Cannot Recognize Faces — Even Those of Loved Ones
A neurological condition called Prosopagnosia, often referred to as face blindness, prevents the brain from recognizing faces.
People with this disorder may:
- Fail to recognize family members
- Not recognize their own reflection
- Struggle to identify people in photos
Instead, they often rely on clues such as voice, hairstyle, body shape, or clothing to identify others. Some individuals are born with the condition, while others develop it after a brain injury or stroke.
