π 1. Your ears help you see better in the dark
It sounds strange, but itβs true: your inner earβs vestibular system (which controls balance) helps your brain estimate your bodyβs position in space β even when your eyes canβt see.
When you walk in total darkness, your brain uses tiny fluid movements inside your inner ear canals to stabilize your head and guess where your feet are landing. Without this, youβd wobble and fall even if your eyes were perfectly healthy.
