Many people think the biceps or quadriceps are the strongest muscles, but pound for pound, the masseter muscle in your jaw is the champ.
It’s so powerful that the average adult can exert 170–200 pounds of force when clenching their teeth.
For comparison, that’s enough to bite through a carrot like it’s butter — and even crack nuts or small bones if you tried (not recommended!).
