Did You Know!

You Have a “Mystery Muscle” That Most Animals Don’t

Humans have a tiny, often overlooked muscle called the plantaris, located in the calf.
It’s so small that surgeons sometimes remove it to use for tendon repairs elsewhere in the body.

What’s wild?
Some people are born without it entirely, and it doesn’t affect their movement at all.
Scientists believe it’s a vestigial muscle — a leftover from our evolutionary past, possibly when humans used their feet for grasping like monkeys!
