Did You Know!
Some People Literally Turn to Stone
An ultra-rare condition called Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP) slowly turns muscle and connective tissue into bone.
Over time, normal movement becomes restricted because the body forms extra bone outside the skeleton.
What makes this disease even more unusual:
- Minor injuries can trigger new bone growth
- Even injections or surgery can worsen the condition
- The disease usually begins in childhood
Eventually, many patients lose the ability to move major joints as their body gradually becomes locked in place.
