🕰️ 3. Your ears never stop “growing” — but it’s not real growth

After about age 30, most people’s ears appear to keep growing. But it’s not new tissue — it’s gravity and cartilage breakdown. Over time, ear cartilage loses elasticity and sags downward, making the ears seem larger or “droopier.”

A 1995 Japanese study even calculated the average ear length increase: roughly 0.22 millimeters per year. That’s why elderly men often have noticeably longer ears than in their youth.
