Many things can effect dementia risk in seniors. The diet and a person’s sleep habits can effect dementia risk as well. Not getting a healthy amount of sleep can cause an increase in dementia risk.

Getting an unhealthy amount of sleep can significantly raise the chances of dementia. A recent study found that getting six or less hours of sleep during the night can raise dementia chances by 30%. The same thing was found for getting more than eight hours of sleep per night.

Sleep is very important for the brain. An unhealthy amount of sleep can have several negative effects on the body such as memory loss, reducing focus, and increasing chances in chronic diseases.
