Here is what to keep an eye out for…

Unless you have been living under a rock you have likely heard about the COVID-19 delta variant by now. The FDA is urging Americans to get vaccinated so they do not fall victim to the virus and have also issued a new list of possible symptoms that could occur once u are sick.

The symptoms are very similar to the original virus but the FDA says the delta variant makes people sicker much faster and spreads more easily.

Here are some symptoms you could possibly have from the FDA according to Eat This:

Fever or Chills

You immune system will cause a fever to help fight against the virus. If your temperature reaches 100.4 degrees or more contact your doctor.

Sore Throat or Cough

One of the main symptoms for COVID is a sore/swollen throat. COVID usually causes a sore throat for up to 5 days.

lethargy and tiredness

Rest as much as possible because your body will be tired from fighting the virus.

Headache

According to researchers, “headaches related to COVID-19 are severe, present as migraine phenotype. Young male patients with COVID-19 tend to have worse headaches.”

Nausea

According to researchers, “It is now clear that not only the lungs, the gastrointestinal tract could also be attacked by SARS-CoV-2. Its host receptor angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), which acts as a gateway to infection, has been found to be highly expressed in the gastrointestinal epithelium and may lead to the development of nausea/vomiting.”

Loss of smell and taste

“Smell dysfunction is common and often the first symptom of a COVID-19 infection. Therefore, you should self-isolate and get tested for COVID-19 when you can. It is also common in other viral upper respiratory illness, such as the common cold, but rarely is it the only or first symptom in those cases,” said the Mayo Clinic.
