Some People Are Born Without Permanent Teeth
A rare condition called hypodontia causes one or more permanent teeth to never develop. More severe forms—oligodontia (missing six or more teeth) and anodontia (complete absence of teeth)—are much rarer and are often linked to inherited genetic conditions. Many people don’t realize missing adult teeth can be present from birth rather than being lost later in life.
