Fibromyalgia Changes How the Brain Processes Pain
Fibromyalgia does not cause obvious joint damage or inflammation, yet brain scans show that the nervous system amplifies pain signals. In other words, the brain and spinal cord can become overly sensitive, causing normal sensations to feel painful. This helps explain why people with fibromyalgia may experience widespread pain, fatigue, and “brain fog” even when routine medical tests appear normal.
