Heart Disease Can Cause Symptoms in Your Jaw, Back, or Stomach
Many people associate heart problems with severe chest pain. However, reduced blood flow to the heart can sometimes cause discomfort in unexpected places, including the jaw, neck, back, shoulders, or upper abdomen.
Some people, particularly older adults and individuals with diabetes, may experience shortness of breath, nausea, unusual fatigue, or sweating without obvious chest pain.
Why it matters: A heart attack does not always feel like the dramatic chest-clutching pain portrayed in movies. New or unexplained symptoms, especially when they occur together, should never be ignored. If a heart attack is suspected, call emergency services immediately.
