Some People Have an Extra Rib
About 1 in 200 people are born with a cervical rib, an extra rib that grows just above the first rib, near the neck.
Most people never notice it, but in some cases, it can compress nerves or blood vessels, leading to a condition called Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, which can cause pain, numbness, or poor circulation in the arms.
