Some People Have “Golden Blood”
The rarest blood type in the world is called Rh-null, meaning it lacks all 61 Rh antigens. Fewer than 50 people worldwide are known to have it. It’s so rare and valuable it’s called “golden blood” because it can be used as a universal donor for people with rare blood disorders—but donors are critically scarce.
