Blood isn’t always red—in fact, red is just one option in nature
Human blood is red due to iron in hemoglobin. But some animals have blue blood (copper-based hemocyanin), green blood (chlorocruorin in some worms), and even purple blood (hemerythrin). Though we don’t have those colors, the diversity shows how evolution has engineered blood to adapt to different oxygen needs.
