Did You Know!

Your eyes contain tiny crystals that help you sense direction

Deep inside the inner ear and eye coordination system are otoconia—microscopic calcium crystals.
But here’s the little-known part:

  • These crystals directly influence eye tracking stability.
  • When they shift (like in vertigo), your eyes start flickering uncontrollably (nystagmus), even if your vision is perfect.
In other words, crystals in your head partly control how your eyes move.
