Did You Know!
Gallbladder Pain Can Mimic a Heart Attack
- A gallbladder attack (biliary colic) can cause sharp chest pain, nausea, and sweating — symptoms almost identical to a heart attack.
- This happens because the vagus nerve connects the gallbladder and heart, creating “referred pain” in the chest.
- Many patients go to the ER fearing a heart issue, only to find out it was their gallbladder all along.
Why it’s fascinating:
The gallbladder is small, but its nerve connections can trick the brain, making it hard to pinpoint the real source of pain.
