Did You Know!
Contrary to popular belief, the heart is not located on the left side of the chest but is actually positioned slightly left of the center. It is situated between the lungs, behind the sternum (breastbone), and is tilted slightly toward the left side of the body. The heart’s orientation allows it to distribute oxygen-rich blood to the body’s organs and tissues through the systemic circulation, while simultaneously receiving oxygen-depleted blood from the body via the pulmonary circulation.
