There’s a disorder called Prosopagnosia, or “face blindness,” where people cannot recognize faces—even those of close family.
- They rely on voice, clothing, or posture instead
- Some people don’t even recognize their own reflection
- It can be present from birth or caused by brain injury
This happens due to dysfunction in the fusiform gyrus, a region specialized for facial recognition.
