There are different types of sweat glands: Humans have two main types of sweat glands—eccrine and apocrine. Eccrine glands are found all over your body and produce a watery sweat for temperature regulation. Apocrine glands, located in areas like the armpits and groin, produce thicker sweat that contains proteins and fatty acids, and it’s typically odorless until it comes into contact with bacteria on the skin.
