Pica Disorder: Pica is a rare eating disorder characterized by the persistent consumption of non-nutritive, non-food substances over a period of at least one month. Individuals with pica may eat items such as hair, paper, soap, cloth, wool, soil, chalk, talcum powder, metal, pebbles, charcoal, ash, clay, starch, or ice. This behavior is not a culturally supported or socially normative practice and must be severe enough to warrant clinical attention. Pica is most commonly observed in children, pregnant women, and individuals with developmental disorders, but it can occur in people of any age.
