Did You Know!

The lungs are constantly exposed to harmful substances (like dust, pollutants, and bacteria) that we inhale, but they have built-in defense mechanisms. The mucous lining of the lungs traps particles, while cilia (tiny hair-like structures) sweep them out. Even though the lungs are resilient, long-term exposure to harmful substances, like smoking, can overwhelm these defenses and lead to conditions like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or lung cancer.
