Lung Tissue Can Regrow After Injury
In rare cases, especially in children or young adults, lung tissue can regenerate—a process long thought impossible in humans. One 2012 study showed that after surgical removal of a lung lobe, new alveoli (air sacs) formed over time to compensate for the loss.
