Did You Know!
Your Stomach Can Stretch Much More Than You Think
When empty, your stomach is about the size of a fist.
But after a large meal, it can expand to hold up to 1–1.5 liters of food and liquid — sometimes even more.
The folds inside the stomach (called rugae) allow it to stretch dramatically without tearing. However, repeatedly overeating can reduce your sensitivity to fullness signals over time.
