Lets be honest, being diabetic is already hard enough. Sometimes we want to kick back grab the sweetest treat out of the pantry and enjoy ourselves. Sadly, most Americans who diabetic can’t keep doing that or else they will soon be in big trouble.

Sweets are often very high in carbs and sugar which isn’t safe for diabetics.

Here are some sweet treats thanks to healthline that you can eat to satisfy those hard to beat cravings:

Dark Chocolate

While it still needs to be eaten in moderation, dark chocolate is a healthy chocolate that can satisfy your sweet tooth.

Pears

One thing many diabetics need to slow the absorption of sugar into the bloodstream is fiber and pears are jam packed with fiber containing a whopping 4 grams.

One study even showed that pears improved blood sugar control for people with diabetes.

Apples

The term “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” isn’t always a joke, especially for diabetics! The average apple contains 28 grams of carbs and 5 grams of fiber. Some studies have even shown that eating an apple before eating rice kept blood sugar level down!

Other popular snacks that are good for diabetics include: Grapes, Greek yogurt, and Trail mix, and Protein smoothies.
