Everyone in America suffers from inflammation once in a while. However, it can become a serious problem for some people especially if you are older.

Did you know there are some foods you should avoid to prevent your inflammation from getting worse?

Thanks to Eat This, Megan Byrd, RD, claims that the best way to prevent inflammation from getting worse is to make sure that you avoid high-fructose corn syrup.

“High-fructose corn syrup actually adds a lot more fructose to your diet than you would normally eat otherwise, which drives an unnaturally high inflammatory response to this sugar in your body,” Byrd said. “It has been shown to cause an increase in uric acid production, which in turn fuels the body’s inflammatory response.”

When people think about high fructose corn syrup they usually think it’s only in soda. That is not the case. High fructose corn syrup can be found in several unhealthy foods so make sure you pay attention to what you are putting in your body.
