People With Certain Lung Diseases Can Develop “Clubbing” in Their Fingers
One little-known sign of chronic lung disorders is something called finger clubbing, where the fingertips become enlarged and the nails curve downward. Doctors sometimes see this in people with lung cancer, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary fibrosis, and other long-term lung conditions. Researchers believe it happens because low oxygen levels and inflammation change blood flow and tissue growth in the fingers over time.
