Some Kidney Disorders Can Affect Hearing
A little-known connection exists between the kidneys and the ears. Certain rare genetic kidney disorders, including Alport Syndrome, can cause both kidney failure and hearing loss. Researchers believe this happens because the kidneys and inner ear share similar structural proteins. Damage to these proteins can affect both organs, leading to symptoms that seem unrelated at first glance.
