Certain rare genetic skin conditions don’t just impact the skin. For example, Netherton Syndrome and other inherited disorders can also affect the eyes, ears, and immune system. In some cases, people may experience hearing problems, recurrent infections, or vision complications alongside severe skin symptoms. This happens because the same genes involved in skin development can also play important roles elsewhere in the body.
