Over-the-counter pain medicine is the most common remedy as it quickly reduces the pain in small to moderate tooth aches. It is always recommended that people stay within the recommended dosage no matter how bad the pain may be.

Another effective way to reduce tooth aches is by cold compressions. A bag of ice wrapped in a towel helps constrict blood vessels in the affected area which helps reduce the pain. Experts recommend that people only apply the ice for about 15-20 minutes every few hours.

A remedy that is not commonly known is salt water rinsing. A regular rinse with salt water can naturally take way tooth aches because salt water is an antibacterial agent that reduces inflammation. This also can help remove debris stuck in or between the teeth and protect from future inflammation.
