🧬 One Rare Disorder Can Make Children Age Nearly 7–8 Times Faster

The condition Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome causes rapid aging starting in early childhood. Kids with this disorder may develop wrinkles, hair loss, and heart disease at an extremely young age.

What’s surprising is that their brains often develop normally, meaning they are fully aware of their condition. The disorder is caused by a mutation affecting a protein called lamin A, which destabilizes the cell nucleus.
