A Rare Ear Disorder Can Make You Hear Your Own Eyeballs Moving
It sounds almost impossible, but some people can actually hear the movement of their own eyes.
A rare condition called superior semicircular canal dehiscence syndrome (SCDS) occurs when the bone covering part of the inner ear becomes abnormally thin or develops an opening.
This can make ordinary internal body sounds seem unusually loud.
People with this disorder may hear their eyeballs moving, their heartbeat, their footsteps, or even sounds from their digestive system.
The condition can also cause dizziness or balance problems, particularly when someone hears loud noises or experiences changes in pressure.
Surprising fact: Certain people with this disorder can hear their own eye movements so clearly that the sounds interfere with everyday activities.
