Liver Disease Can Cause Redness in the Palms of Your Hands
One lesser-known sign associated with liver disease is palmar erythema, a condition that causes unusual redness in the palms, particularly around the base of the thumb and little finger.
This can occur in people with cirrhosis because liver dysfunction may affect hormone metabolism and blood vessel regulation.
Interesting fact: The redness may temporarily fade when pressure is applied and return when the pressure is released.
However, red palms can also occur during pregnancy, with certain inflammatory conditions, or without any serious underlying disease.
