Some Muscle Disorders Are Triggered by Common Medications
Not all muscle disorders are inherited. Certain prescription medications—including some cholesterol-lowering drugs (statins), corticosteroids, and a few antibiotics—can occasionally cause muscle pain, weakness, or inflammation in susceptible individuals.
Most people tolerate these medications well, but anyone who develops unexplained muscle symptoms should discuss them with a healthcare provider rather than stopping medication on their own.
