The entire digestive tract is surprisingly long—about 30 feet (9 meters) from end to end. This includes the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine. The small intestine alone accounts for around 20 feet (6 meters) of that length, which is where most of the nutrient absorption takes place.
